Recap of Meeting on 15th January, 2008
Congratulations!! At the beginning of 2008, how delightful it was for us to hear some encouraging news announced by our President Lorna. VTC has been awarded and recognized by District Governor (District 80 comprises of HK, Macau, Singapore, and Thailand) as one of the five longest-established clubs in helping the District and Toastmasters International to achieve its mission.
Lorna led a ritual to have incoming Excom members sworn/affirmed to their duties, being witnessed by all members/guests present. The award medal and gavel were passed around for us to touch - with lucky blessings for the year to come! What a memorable moment!
What's more, we have some old friends coming back to be our visitors and new members. Warmest welcome to Sunny, Eva (ex-President 1999-2000), Elena, Catherine, and Tenzin! A new member Natalie made her debut in her toastmastering journey and delivered an excellent ice-breaking speech. Benjamin warmed our hearts with an enjoyable speech 'Your Best Present", sharing with us his family gathering back at home during Christmas time.
Brian, the chairman for Victoria's 50th coming-of-age birthday celebration in April, announced he was looking for helpers. There was an eager show of hands! The first 50th COA committee meeting will be held soon. Offers to serve on the event most welcome!
It's so nice to see all the familiar faces and especially the new blood. We wish you all a prosperous and fulfilling Year of the Rat!
Happy toastmastering journey!
