Dear Fellow Toastmasters and Guests,

If you missed our In-house International Speech contest held on 4 March 2008, it is a big loss to you! We had 9 contestants and each of them delivered a very outstanding speech. It was a big headache for our judges to make the decision on who was the winner.

The results are:

1st Place : Brian Hodgson. Speech Title, "Smile." Brian stated that smiling was good for your health and that it brought you luck and opportunity. Brian always wears a big smile and maybe this is the reason he often wins in contests. Believe it or not? Try it out yourself.

1st Runner Up: Eva Tsai . Speech Title, "Let's get on board." One sudden incident made Eva think about what life was about. That evoked her determination to pursue her dream and she finally got on the train to her Utopia. My friends, do you have a dream? Are you ready to follow Eva's example to get on board to your Utopia?

2nd Runner Up: Gladys Ma. Speech Title, "Hidden Love." This was a very touching sharing of her childhood. A sensitive description of the traditional Chinese parental love. Some of us could not hold back our tears. If you had been there, you might have shed tears also.

The other contestants' performances were also outstanding. It was sad that we could only have 3 winners. I could see the difficulty for the judges in selecting the winners.

Lastly, congratulations to all the winners and, special congratulations to Brian and Eva who will represent our club in the Area International Speech Contest to be held on 29th March 2008. We wish them a good result!

Please, do come to support them!

Cheers!
